CGU partners with Equality event Move in May

CGU Insurance is proud to announce its naming rights sponsorship of Move in May, an Australian-first fun run to promote inclusivity and equality for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ) community.

Move in May is an initiative of Stand Up Events, a not-for-profit organisation that delivers education programs and events to address the underrepresentation of the LGBTIQ community in mainstream sport.

Donna Walker, Executive General Manager Broker Business, IAG Commercial Insurance said CGU was extremely proud to be the major sponsor of the inaugural event.

Stand Up Events is a great not-for-profit organisation, providing grassroots events and education programs to the community to help raise awareness of the inequality that exists within Australian sporting culture,” she said.

“Sport is the backbone of our national identity and events such as Move in May will help the LGBTIQ gain greater acceptance in our communities.

“CGU and our parent company IAG recognise and support diversity in all of its forms. We are proud to be the naming rights sponsor of Move in May and support an organisation that proactively encourages inclusiveness in business and the community.”

Angie Greene, founder of Stand Up Events is excited about the partnership and working with CGU.

Move in May is an annual fun run that supports and coincides with International Day against Homophobia and Transphobia (IDAHOT – May 17th) and is an event for everyone that believes in equality – rainbow or otherwise,” she said.

Move in May is a creative, fun and powerful platform to show the world that Australia is an inclusive society.”

Move in May will be held on Sunday, 22 May 2016 and is expected to attract more than 5000 participants. The event will be held in Melbourne, around The Tan of the Botanical Gardens.
